Lately I have been hearing commercials on the radio about “Nutrition Assistance.†Now to me a program called “Nutrition Assistance†would be like the W.I.C program. Where you have certain healthy foods you can use vouchers for, for pregnant women and children. Because the foods they want you to buy are good, wholesome, nutrition packed foods. So yes the W.I.C program should be “Nutrition Assistance.â€
I do NOT mind people using the W.I.C program, it is a good program and I feel it does do what it was intended to do for low income families. I admit I used W.I.C for my kidlets.
Now this commercial is for “Nutrition Assistance†program which is a government program, formerly known as Food Stamps. This program to me grates every nerve in my damn body. It is nothing but a taxpayer’s cesspool of fraud and abuse. I would have to estimate only about 1/4 of people who receive food stamps use them in a good steward fashion and actually feed their families well with them. The rest are nothing but lazy, crackwhore infested, kid hatching, drunk, assholes who abuse the system.
Now taking my kids to a store and buying them a treat is a luxury. Because I like some people are on a budget. Treats are a luxury not necessity.
Today I see people who travel across the U.S. and use their food stamps as their road munchies. I swipe the debit cards from all corners of the U.S. Now I can barely afford to take my kids and myself to Minnesota for a mini-vacation at valley fair for 2 days. Feeding and housing 3 people is expensive on the road. As much as I work I really have to budget and cut corners to make such a trip happen. Not these people. They drive better cars than I do, dress in name brand clothes, have better manicures than I, carry state of the art top-of-the-line cell phones, but yet come in and use their food stamp cards.
I can tell who has cash and who has food stamps. The cash carrying customer shops and make decisions and usually the purchase is $5.00-$10.00 at most. A food stamp user usually shops with reckless abandon and finds every sugar laden, fattening, things we have in our store. Not only do they buy this shit for themselves and kids to eat every day, they also find it cool to treat their friends on a regular basis to the luxuries as well. On my damn taxpayers dime.
I have seen people come in to the store buy their beer with cash, then turn around and buy their party munchies on food stamps and think they are cool. They have no shame.
I really feel that if you receive government assistance this food stamp program should be set up like W.I.C. Good nutritious foods only. Pisses me off when I see them buying a $2.29 can of energy drink, cough drops, pop by the cases, and GUM. Since when is GUM and breath mints FOOD?. Talk about a waste of taxpayer’s money. We cannot say anything to these leeches and offending them. But what about us hard working people who’s has to watch their tax dollars be abused right in front of their face on a daily basis?? Am I offended? You bet your sweet ass I am.
If people are so into governing our lives, telling us what and what not to eat, such as the transfat bullshit, start there on food stamps. Only products from the American diabetes or American Heart Association on the labels. Along with fruits, veggies etc. I mean good god, they tell me my kids cannot have a can of soda at school now. But yet when Rowena gets out of school her mom will take her to a c-store and load her up on $15.00-$20.00 of sugar laden, high processed foods day after day on her food stamp card.
I would like to see the program force the parents to provide MEALS for these kids, instead of living off of $1.00 sandwich coolers day after day. I would like to see these parents hand out nutritious snacks instead of Krispy Kreme donuts, and candy bars. So as far as I am concerned this “nutritious assistance†program is wrongly named. It should be called “Anti-Nutritious cardâ€. Ugh this just pisses me off. I better go to bed before I blow a cork. Hopefully next week after this severe episode of PMS wears off I can post of things that DON’T piss me off. Today even I get on my own nerves. pfffft!!!!!

I agree sistah. 100%
