The first thing I did was go to the 1910 Census. I see the original owner was William Edward Abbott and Laura Patrene Abbott. In 1910 they were listed as the owners and had one child Lillian Esther Abbott who was 14yrs old at the time. This was a good start.

Further research I found that William was born in WI and his father and mother was Edward Abbott and Hester Ann Norton. Edward was born in England and ended up in WI. They relocated to Canton, SD and he was here by the age of 18yrs old. They were farmers.

At the age of 30 he married Laura Patrene Tobiasan (born in Norway) who was only 18yrs old. They married on August 6th, 1892. They had a daughter Lillian in 1895. They farmed until 1906 when they moved into town. They lived on 2nd street before they moved (assume built) this house over on 3rd street.

According to the census William’s jobs went from farmer, to odd labor to house mover. Laura was a homemaker. Lillian was their only child that I can find. This is where the research has been very difficult. I am assuming there are a lot of things I don’t know that would explain the oddities that I have ran into.

There is a history book of the area and there is no mention of the Abbotts. They were obviously a wealthy family. My house for the time was a nice house. The house was not just built plain and simple. There is a lot of wood work and a carved wood staircase. These are still in the house.

Lillian. I am not sure where she went. She is not in the 1930 census but her parents are still here and have other people in the house. A few times they had “roomers” or “lodgers” here at the house. Lillian resurfaces at the age of 35yrs old when she was back in the house with her parents.

Lillian married Floyd Vernon Stark at the age of 39 (he was 40) (Sept 1934) and they lived on a farm near Beresford, SD. They never had children. Lillian found her husband slumped over the wheel of his car on the farm just 4yrs after marriage. The story was in the paper and said he died of “gas” stating he was draining his car. Many people that have read the article get the feeling it was suicide.

It is unclear where Lillian was after this or when she found herself back in this house. William (her father) passed away in 1941 so this was within 2yrs from the death of her husband. Laura her mother passed away in 1963.

Lillian lived in this home until she passed away. She died in April of 1976 at the age of 80. Lillian never remarried and was known as a “widow”.

I am still researching who has the house from 1976 on and would like more information on the Abbotts. I would like to find where Lillian was all that time and also find photographs someday. I will update more as I find more information.

I am around. Just have been so busy. We adopted some new fish. The above picture was our “mystery” fish. I knew when I bought him he was a type of Bullhead (I love those) and we are pretty sure he is a Spotted Bullhead but he is so small only time will tell. The markings are key and he is such a baby it is hard to tell. He was in a shipment of ghost shrimp. They had two of them and had no idea what they were. One employee took one home and I grabbed this one. They get to about 11″ so that is not bad at all. He is only about an inch right now. hehe so cute. He is in the 10gl tank with Bubbles (the Betta) until he grows big enough to be safe in the 55gl with the bigger cats I have.

We got a rainbow shark that is about 6″, I forgot what S named him. It is her fish. He is pretty cool to watch. Oh yeah. I think S named it a SHE and it is Daisy. I got two Clown Loaches that are small as well. We went to Walmart later that night and felt sorry for the Betta’s and S had to drag one home. They are cheap and I have a large bowl for it so I didn’t mind. It is yellow and really different looking. It has fin rot right now and hope now with a good home that clears up.

I realize when I get the 75gl tank that the bullhead will have to go in that tank in the long term. My common pleco Suck-A-Lux will have to as well. The pleco is going to get to 2ft long eventually. Those are my cows as far as fish. The pim cats can live a good life in the 55gl they are about done growing at 6-7″ and James Bond will get to about 12″ as well and may have to go into the 75gl! I will have to get a larger tank in several years to house more as they grow. The common pleco will need a larger tank and no way around that unless I give him to the fish shop to sell. He is about 6″ now and missing an eye. He is a great fish though.

I am so excited. I posted on a forum of our local aquarium societies site looking for some tanks. I scored a 30gl (long) tank for FREE! I wanted bigger, and still will get bigger but I am not going to turn down a free tank! I am thinking about moving my printer off my desk and setting up a tank on my desk to look at while I am on the puter.

The weather is rather hot today. Humidity is up there so it feels like a sauna at 90F. I cleaned my car today and by the time I was done my face was red from the heat. (It is rare I sunburn, it was not that lol) My leather seats needed some loving. I had pigeon shit all over my car and since it is black it really stuck out!

Speaking of heat. I hate my job in the summer. Wearing a black uniform, polyester and nylon in high heat and humidity is hard. I sweat so bad and feel so gross. The air handlers in the building I work in just suck in the humidity. Paper is soggy it is so humid and you are running around working hard. It is just eww.

I got my hair dyed again today so it is darker again. I have a complex about my hair having to stay dark. It starts to fade and it bothers me.

EDIT: I want to clarify these are not “fake” nails or as Anthony told me on the phone “Lee Press on nails” lol They are my real nails with a coat of gel on them to make it harder for them to break. The profession I work in is brutal on my nails and hands. My real nails are seen pretty easy underneath and they are the same length as the gel.

She will do this for a loooong time. It makes me giggle. Also she is always on my cell phone talking to her cousin Pooh and I caught her on video. You can hear me at the end *blush*
